More than 200 workers lose their lives each year due to workplace 'fall' accidents, which President Lee Jae-myung addressed at a cabinet meeting.
According to industrial accident death statistics, 4 out of 10 industrial accident fatalities are caused by 'falling' incidents. This is the most fatal type of accident in industrial settings, with approximately 200 workers dying from falls during work each year.
Need for Strengthened Workplace Safety Management
President Lee emphasized the severity of fall accidents and the need to strengthen workplace safety management at the cabinet meeting. Fall accidents continue to occur across various industrial sites including construction sites, with major causes including failure to wear safety equipment and lack of safety railings.
Experts agree that comprehensive measures including enhanced safety education, mandatory safety equipment, and improved work environments are urgently needed to prevent fall accidents.
