Summary
  • Brie Larson and Elizabeth Olsen recreated the 'Avengers: Endgame' A-Force scene with fans at a San Antonio convention.
  • The scene received both criticism as forced storytelling and praise as a symbolic moment for female heroes when it debuted.
  • Despite controversy, fans continue to cherish it as a memorable moment in Marvel film history.

Marvel Heroes Recreate Iconic Moment with Fans

Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) most prominent female heroes created a special moment with fans.

Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff) attended Space Con convention in San Antonio, Texas this past October, where they recreated a scene from 'Avengers: Endgame.' The two actors staged the so-called 'A-Force' sequence alongside fans dressed as Star-Lord, Spider-Man, and Thanos.

The A-Force scene occurs during Endgame's final battle as the Infinity Gauntlet is being transported to the Quantum Portal. When Spider-Man becomes overwhelmed, Captain Marvel takes the gauntlet, and the MCU's female heroes—including Wanda—gather together to support her.

A Moment Remembered Despite Controversy

This sequence has been famous for dividing audiences since the film's release. Some viewers criticized it as forced, and the series 'The Boys' Season 2 parodied it with their 'Girls Get it Done' scene.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke told The Hollywood Reporter in 2020: "After Endgame's opening weekend, our producer Rebecca Sonnenshine was furious. She felt that scene was condescending (patronizing), and I agreed."

However, Endgame screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely explained to Variety in 2019: "There were so many characters in that sequence. We struggled with how to make it more than just a character roll call, and we found a way to separate them into specific units."

Still a Special Memory for Fans

Despite the controversy, the convention recreation received enthusiastic response on social media. For many fans, the A-Force sequence remains a moment when comic book splash pages came to life in live-action and a symbolic scene where Marvel's female heroes took center stage together in the film franchise's history.

At the same event, Paul Bettany (Vision) also attended and recreated Vision's death scene by Thanos alongside Elizabeth Olsen.

'Avengers: Endgame' was a global box office phenomenon upon its 2019 release, delivering countless memorable moments including Captain America wielding Thor's hammer, the return of vanished heroes, and the "Avengers Assemble" battle cry. As the grand finale of the MCU's Infinity Saga, the film is still regarded as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.
