Overview of the Regular Personnel Reshuffle

On June 29, the National Tax Service announced its regular personnel reshuffle covering deputy director-general-level officials, division chief-level officials, and first-time tax office chiefs. The reshuffle moved 12 deputy director-generals and 109 division chiefs (department heads), of whom 35 were appointed as tax office chiefs for the first time. Seventy tax office chiefs nationwide were replaced, with most newly appointed officials taking up their posts on June 30 and some returning from outside assignments starting July 8.

Headquarters and Seoul Regional Tax Office Postings

At the Seoul Regional Tax Office, Choi Ji-eun was named Taxpayer Protection Officer and Lee Beop-jin was named Scientific Investigation Officer. Go Geun-su, formerly director of Investigation Bureau 1 at the Gwangju Regional Tax Office, becomes chief of the Gangnam Tax Office, while Shin Sang-mo, formerly head of the Inheritance and Gift Tax Division at the National Tax Service, becomes chief of the Jeju Tax Office. At National Tax Service headquarters, Son Yeong-jun was named spokesperson, Kwon Oh-heung was named Planning and Finance Officer, Jeong Pil-gyu was named National Tax Data Officer, Park Su-hyeon was named Information Planning Officer, and Min Hoe-jun was named Audit Officer. Woo Yeon-hee moved to head the AI Innovation Office, Lim Yeong-mi became director of the Big Data Center, and Kwon Dong-cheol took charge of the Hometax 2 Office. Among deputy director-general-level officials, An Min-gyu, Nam Yeong-an, Kim Sang-beom, Kim Dong-hyeon, Oh Mi-sun, Park Chan-uk, Park Geun-jae, and Jeon Ae-jin were transferred, among others.

Seoul and Greater Seoul Area Tax Office Chief Appointments

Tax office chief changes also took place across offices under the Seoul Regional Tax Office's jurisdiction. Song Pyeong-geun was appointed chief of the Jongno Tax Office, Go Ju-seok chief of the Namdaemun Tax Office, Kwon Sun-jae chief of the Yongsan Tax Office, Kwon Yeong-rim chief of the Samseong Tax Office, and Kim Yong-jae chief of the Seongbuk Tax Office. Within the Seoul Regional Tax Office's Investigation Bureau 1, Hwang Nam-uk was transferred to head Investigation Division 1 and Choi Jae-myeong to head Investigation Division 2.

Busan and Ulsan Regional Tax Office Transfers

At the Busan Regional Tax Office, Park Hyeon-su was transferred to head the Income and Property Tax Division and Kang Sin-ung to head the Delinquent Tax Tracking Division. Among offices under its jurisdiction, Lee Dong-gyu takes over as chief of the Suyeong Tax Office, Shin Gwan-ho as chief of the Dongnae Tax Office, Ju Jong-gi as chief of the Geumjeong Tax Office, Jeon Jeong-yeong as chief of the Jungbusan Tax Office, and Lee Jeong-hun as chief of the Bukbusan Tax Office. Go Dong-hwan was named chief of the Gimhae Tax Office and Park Chan-ung chief of the Yangsan Tax Office. No Won-cheol takes up the post of Ulsan Tax Office chief, and Kwon Sun-rak becomes chief of the Dongulsan Tax Office.

Nationwide First-Time Tax Office Chief Appointments

Officials appointed as tax office chiefs for the first time in this reshuffle were assigned to posts across Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Incheon, and Chungcheong provinces, among other regions. Jeong Yeong-hye takes over as chief of the Seongnam Tax Office and Yang Yeong-jin as chief of the Icheon Tax Office. Kim Seong-mi was appointed chief of the Hongcheon Tax Office, Lee Woo-jin chief of the Wonju Tax Office, Kim Jong-min chief of the Gangneung Tax Office, and Lee Jae-hyeon chief of the Sokcho Tax Office. Woo Cheol-yun moves to head the Incheon Tax Office and Kim Min the Seoincheon Tax Office, while Lee Jun-ho was newly appointed chief of the Sejong Tax Office and Jo Byeong-ju chief of the Jecheon Tax Office.

The reshuffle spanned deputy director-general-level officials through first-time tax office chiefs, covering headquarters, regional tax offices nationwide, and local tax offices, with all newly appointed officials beginning their duties at their respective posts on June 30.
