A First Look at the Invincible Universe in Combat

The open beta for Invincible VS, the 3v3 tag fighting game developed by Quarter Up — Skybound's in-house studio — ran from April 9 to 11 exclusively on consoles. Held just weeks before the game's official release, the beta gave players their final chance to experience the arena before launch.

Invincible VS is based on the beloved Invincible comic book and animated series. It is slated for release on April 30, 2026 across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.

10-Character Roster and Three Modes

The beta featured 10 playable characters: Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atom Eve, Bulletproof, Thula, Rex Splode, Battle Beast, Omni-Man, Robot, Monster Girl, and Allen the Alien.

Three modes were available: a Tutorial covering movement, inputs, Active Tagging, and Assist Breakers; Practice Mode for drilling specific skills; and Ranked Mode where players earned League Points and climbed the leaderboard.

Beta participants received a special Omni-Man skin inspired by his recent appearance in the animated series.

IP-Driven Fighting Game in a Competitive Genre

Developed directly by Skybound's own studio rather than outsourced, Invincible VS carries particular weight for fans of Robert Kirkman's original work. Its 3v3 tag system echoes the legacy of team-based fighters like Marvel vs. Capcom and Dragon Ball FighterZ, positioning the title as a western comics entry in a genre revival.
