A Ceasefire Begins, But Questions Linger

Similar dynamics are unfolding with Iran. Barely a week after a vaguely worded ceasefire was signed between the US and the Iranian regime, analysts report that Tehran appears to be exploiting ambiguities in the text.

Vague agreements reduce immediate violence but do not resolve structural conflict. They leave room for both parties to interpret terms in their favor — a design flaw that repeatedly transforms ceasefires into temporary pauses rather than durable peace.

For the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire to become a genuine resolution, several conditions must be met. The continued presence of Israeli troops in southern Lebanon is likely to become a persistent friction point with Hezbollah.
