A new team appears in the Marvel fighting game

The second team of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, 'Amazing Guardians', was unveiled in Korea, where the ARK World Tour 2025-2026 finals were held. According to what producer Takeshi Yamanaka announced on the PlayStation blog, this team is composed of next-generation heroes.

Leading the team is the 'friendly neighbor' Spider-Man (voiced by Josh Keaton). Joining them are the new hero Ms. Marvel (voiced by Dahlia Rooney), the space pirate Star-Lord (voiced by Scott Porter), and the dimension-hopping invention genius Penny Parker (voiced by Lisa May).

The key character revealed this time is Penny Parker. Penny, a Japanese-American student, is set to be a genius scientist with a slightly eccentric temperament. She operates the powerful mecha suit 'SP//dr' created by her father and acts as a spider hero in a parallel universe.

In the game, Penny rides a SP//dr mecha and participates in battle, demonstrating a play style that uses various gadgets and tools to implement strategies on the fly. Although he grew up in the United States, he sometimes speaks mixed Japanese, so it is worth noting how this characteristic is implemented in the voice acting for each language.

Mystery character ‘Promoter’ appears

In the trailer, a mysterious character called 'Promoter' (voiced by Sabrina Fest) was also revealed. Her real name is Sirena Afina, and she is a member of the Elder of the Universe, an ancient alien race that has existed in the universe since the beginning. She is a person who travels the galaxy and plans supernova-scale entertainment, and invites heroes to a tournament where the fate of the Earth is at stake.

Reflection of closed beta feedback and new features

The development team made a number of improvements based on feedback from two closed beta tests conducted last year. Detailed patch notes can be found on the official Discord server.

One of the newly added features that stands out is the ‘automatic team name generation’ system. When a player forms a dream team with four characters, the team name is automatically created with reference to the Marvel universe. The generated name is displayed on the screen and may be called by the ring announcer.

Latest build available to experience at EVO Japan 2026

The latest trial version will be unveiled at EVO Japan 2026, which will be held in Tokyo from May 1 to 3. In this build, Penny Parker is added as a playable character, and the 'Knowhere' battle stage related to the Amazing Guardians team is also introduced. In EVO Japan, you can experience a total of 12 playable characters and 4 stages.
