A Throne Up for Grabs

With champion Alex Pereira vacating the UFC light heavyweight (93kg) title to pursue a heavyweight campaign, two top contenders are set to clash for the vacant belt. UFC 327: Prochazka vs. Ulberg takes place on April 12 (KST) at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, headlined by former champion Jiri Prochazka (No. 2, Czech Republic) versus Carlos Ulberg (No. 3, New Zealand).

Prochazka Chasing a Return to Glory

Prochazka (32-1-5) first captured the light heavyweight title in 2022 by defeating Glover Teixeira, then relinquished it due to a shoulder injury. He has since rebounded with back-to-back KO wins over Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. to re-earn his shot at the belt. Of his 32 victories, 31 are finishes — 28 by (T)KO, an 88% KO rate. Known as a slow starter, Prochazka has pledged to come out aggressively from the opening bell, saying, "If I start fighting right away, I can win."

Ulberg's First Shot at UFC Gold

Ulberg (13-1) is fighting for the UFC title for the first time. After losing his UFC debut in 2021, he has gone on a nine-fight win streak, defeating Korean prospect Jeon Da-woon via rear-naked choke, and later stopping former champion Jan Blachowicz and former title challenger Dominic Reyes. A kickboxing champion by background, Ulberg has 8 (T)KO wins in his UFC career. A City Kickboxing teammate of former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, he combines knockout power with sharp distance management.

Oddsmakers call it nearly a coin flip.

Swanson's Final Bow

Undercard attention turns to UFC Hall of Famer Cub Swanson (42, USA), who retires against Nate Landwehr (37, USA) in a featherweight bout. Swanson turned professional in 2004 at age 20 and compiled a 30-14 record across 22 years. Effectively the last remaining WEC fighter in the UFC, he has transitioned into coaching, mentoring rising talents Danny Silva and Leihyan Douglas. Swanson attributed his longevity to "stubbornness, seeking help, adapting, and never overestimating yourself."
