Yankees Rally for 9-7 Win

The New York Yankees overcame a four-run deficit to defeat the Miami Marlins 9-7, improving to a Major League-best 7-1. It marks the franchise's first 7-win start through eight games since 2003.

Stanton Stars on Both Sides of the Ball

Giancarlo Stanton was the catalyst. The 36-year-old drew a walk in the seventh, stole second base while Miami's defense looked away — his first regular-season steal since August 2020 — then scored on a passed ball to extend the lead. He later delivered a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth.

Cody Bellinger's two-run homer in the fifth sparked the comeback, and a three-run sixth — fueled by run-scoring hits from Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge plus a Bellinger sacrifice fly — gave New York the lead for good. Closer David Bednar navigated a messy ninth inning, striking out Griffin Conine to earn his fourth save.

"If there's outs on the board, we've got a chance," Stanton said. "Today just showed our resilience."
