Xbox Achievements Get a Major Update

Microsoft has kicked off testing of significant improvements to Xbox Achievements for select Xbox Insider members, starting April 8, 2026. The update introduces three key changes: a visual refresh for achievement notifications, the ability to hide games from your profile, and a new highlight for 100% completed titles. The features will expand to all players following the Insider testing phase.

What's Changing

Redesigned Notifications

Achievement unlock notifications have a fresh new look, featuring updated icons and animations for both standard and rare achievement unlocks. Notifications will now also match each user's custom profile color, adding a personal touch to every unlock.

Hide Games from Your Profile

Arriving later this month, the game-hiding feature lets players remove specific titles from their visible Achievement history on their profile. It's one of the most-requested features in the Xbox Insider community. Crucially, hidden games still count toward total Gamerscore and activity continues to be tracked across Xbox — only the profile display changes.

100% Completion Highlights

When a player earns all available Gamerscore for a title, it will now be distinctly highlighted in their achievements list. New filter options are also being added for easier browsing and sorting.

Xbox's Gamerscore system has been a cornerstone of gaming culture since the Xbox 360 era in 2005. While the score serves as a badge of commitment, players have long complained about incomplete or low-quality games cluttering their profiles. This update lets users curate their public identity without sacrificing score integrity — a balance that mirrors similar moves by competitors like Steam.
