Fire at Ukrainian-Supply Drone Factory
A fire broke out at a drone manufacturing facility in Pardubice, Czech Republic, which produces drones for supply to Ukraine. Located in an industrial zone approximately 120km east of Prague, the factory is operated by Czech defense company LPP Holding and has been producing AI-equipped attack drones for deployment to the Ukrainian front lines.
The fire started in a warehouse building and spread to a second adjacent structure, with firefighters responding in the early morning hours to extinguish the blaze.
Terrorism Investigation Underway
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis stated that the fire is "being investigated as a terrorist act." Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar also confirmed that "there is a high possibility of connection to a terrorist attack."
Following the fire, a group opposing Israeli weapons claimed responsibility for the attack. However, LPP Holding strongly denied any connection to Israeli drone production. The company stated, "Israeli drones have never been manufactured at our facility," and clarified that past collaboration plans with Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems were never executed.
LPP Holding's AI Drone Technology
LPP Holding produces the MTS series attack drones, which have undergone field testing on the Ukrainian battlefield. The core technology of MTS drones is their ability to operate autonomously without human pilots even in electronic warfare jamming environments.
The most powerful model, the MTS40, features the following specifications:
- Operational range: 600km
- Explosive payload: 12kg
- Autonomous flight: Operates even in strong electronic jamming environments
Ukraine's AI Drone Development Race
Since the Russian invasion in 2022, Ukraine has rapidly expanded its drone program with massive investments in AI technology. In September 2025, Ukrainian startup Swarmer secured $15 million (approximately 21 billion won) in funding, the largest investment received by a Ukrainian defense company since the invasion began.
In a similar incident, in June 2025, activists opposing Israeli weapons destroyed military equipment at a Belgian munitions warehouse. The damaged equipment was destined for Ukraine, not Israel.
