From Michelin Chef to Film Director

Renowned chef Vikas Khanna, who operates the restaurant Bungalow in New York, is set to release his new film 'Imaginary Rain' starring acclaimed actor Shabana Azmi.

In a recent interview with PTI, Khanna stated, "Directing Shabana Azmi is the greatest privilege of my life," adding that "this film is the best work of my life."

Adapting His 2023 Novel

The film is based on Khanna's novel of the same name published in 2023. It tells the story of a master chef working in Manhattan who rediscovers his roots in India after experiencing personal tragedy.

The film explores themes of loss, family, and rediscovering passion through Indian cuisine. Shabana Azmi plays the lead chef role, with Prateik Patil in a supporting role. The music is composed by maestro A.R. Rahman.

"A Food Film Like Never Before"

Khanna revealed the film is "scheduled to release within a few months," emphasizing that "convincing Shabana Azmi to take on this role will be one of the greatest achievements of my life."

He expressed confidence in the project, saying, "You will see a food film like this for the first time in your life." Despite his busy schedule running his New York restaurant, he is actively working toward the film's release.

Following His 2019 Directorial Debut

Khanna made his directorial debut in 2019 with 'The Last Color,' starring Neena Gupta. 'Imaginary Rain' marks his second feature film.

Recently, actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh visited his restaurant Bungalow, generating buzz. A video released online captured Padukone making traditional Indian sweet 'modak' under Khanna's guidance.

Khanna stated, "Having Deepika and Ranveer visit Bungalow was a great honor."
