Summary
  • 2028 LA Olympics ticket lottery registration opens with approximately 14 million tickets available starting at $28.
  • Los Angeles and Oklahoma City local residents receive early purchase access from April 2-6.
  • The Olympics open July 14, with athletics and swimming schedules swapped from tradition.

Largest-Ever Ticket Release

The Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee (LA28) has launched ticket lottery registration. Approximately 14 million tickets will be available, exceeding the 12 million offered at the 2024 Paris Olympics—the largest scale in history.

Ticket prices start at $28 and cover all Olympic and Paralympic events. Lottery registration is currently underway through LA28's official ticketing page.

Lottery System and Purchase Process

Ticket purchases will be conducted through a lottery-based time slot allocation system. Registrants will be randomly assigned a time slot during which they can purchase tickets, with assignments notified via email.

Special benefits are provided to Los Angeles area residents and Oklahoma City area residents, where softball and canoe slalom events will be held. Local residents who register by March 18 will receive priority access during the early purchase period running from April 2 to 6.

Local residency is verified through credit card billing addresses. For California, zip codes from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties are required, while Oklahoma requires addresses from Canadian or Cleveland counties.

General ticket sales are scheduled to begin in the latter half of 2026, though specific dates and purchase limits have not yet been disclosed.

2028 LA Olympics Schedule

Los Angeles will become the third-time Olympic host city. The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 14, with main competitions running through July 30. The Paralympics will begin on August 15 and conclude on August 27.

Opening and closing ceremonies will take place in a dual-venue format at LA Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

The organizing committee has released a preliminary competition schedule for the first time. Field hockey, basketball, rugby sevens, water polo, handball, and cricket will begin initial matches on July 12, two days before the opening ceremony.

Starting with the official Day 1 of competition on July 15, the traditional order of athletics and swimming will be reversed. In a new configuration, athletics will begin first instead of swimming, which has traditionally dominated the first half of the Olympics.
