Anthropic's frontier artificial intelligence model 'Mythos' has the potential to pose a serious cyberthreat to the global financial system, a top banking executive warned. Barclays Chief Executive C. S. Venkatakrishnan made the remarks on Friday at a G30 consultancy group meeting on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund's spring meeting in Washington.

"On Mythos, look, it's a serious issue," Venkatakrishnan said, adding that the bigger concern is what comes next. "There will be a Mythos 2 and a Mythos 3, and they'll come up with probably distressing frequency."

The core reason Mythos has alarmed regulators lies in its high-level coding capabilities.
