Leader of Revenge-for-Hire Gang Arrested
Police have arrested the leader of an organized crime group that accepted money to throw feces at people's front doors and spray profane graffiti with lacquer on walls in so-called 'revenge-for-hire' attacks.
According to Yonhap News, the organization received requests from across the country to locate specific individuals' residences and commit acts of terror by throwing waste and spray-painting profane messages. Police determined that the group systematically committed crimes in exchange for financial compensation, applied for an arrest warrant for the leader, and the court issued it.
Potential Nationwide Organized Crime
This case is not a simple individual crime but an organized revenge-for-hire operation, with victims suffering severe psychological distress and property damage. Police are conducting additional investigations into other organization members including those who carried out the attacks, and are confirming clients and the scope of damage.
Authorities are focusing on the fact that such revenge-for-hire crimes are secretly traded through social media and plan to strengthen crackdowns on similar crimes.
