Bryce Elder delivered another dominant performance Wednesday night at Truist Park, striking out seven and throwing a scoreless outing to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 6-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Elder's ERA now sits at 0.77 through four starts, ranking third in all of Major League Baseball.

A Rare Feat in Braves History

According to league reports, Elder has joined a select group of Braves pitchers to post a sub-1.00 ERA through their first four starts over the past 20 years — a list that includes Hurston Waldrep (2025), Reynaldo López (2024), Max Fried (2023), Aaron Harang (2014), John Smoltz (2008), Tim Hudson (2007), and John Thomson (2006).

Elder's success is no fluke. He completed at least six innings and allowed three or fewer runs in six of his final seven starts last season, posting a 2.12 ERA across 11 outings dating back to August 24.

A Winning Culture Returns

"When you start to win games and win series, you start to believe," said manager Walt Weiss. Elder echoed the sentiment, noting the first couple of years with Atlanta felt like an expectation of winning — something that disappeared last year but appears to be back.

Despite having four starters on the injured list, Atlanta leads the National League with a 2.84 starting pitching ERA.

Roster Moves Ahead

Martín Pérez rejoined the club on a Minor League deal after clearing waivers and is expected to start Friday's series opener in Philadelphia. Spencer Strider is projected to remain on a rehab assignment through month's end, meaning the full rotation picture won't come into focus until May.
