Breaking through the fence with a Mustang, an absurd incident that occurred on the runway

An incident occurred in which a 58-year-old man from Florida, USA, broke through the airport security fence with his vehicle, entered the runway, and attempted to hijack several aircraft. His purpose was to visit his sister, who lived about 480 km (300 miles) away.

On March 25 (local time), Brian John Parker drove his blue Ford Mustang through a locked security fence at Daytona Beach International Airport and entered a taxiway. According to an FBI affidavit, Parker urinated on the tarmac and chased aircraft with their propellers running.

“Let’s go quickly” to the pilot preparing for takeoff

According to the FBI affidavit, Parker boarded two small, unmanned aircraft, opened the doors of the planes with the engines running, and shouted to the pilots, "Go, go, go." He was subdued by security guards at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an aviation school based at Daytona Beach International Airport, and later arrested by arriving Volusia County Sheriff's Office officers.

"I went to an AA meeting... and when I came to, I was addicted to cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana."

In body camera footage released by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Parker told police at the time of his arrest that he did not remember exactly what happened. “I went to an AA meeting earlier that day,” he said. “The next time I came to, I was doing cocaine, drinking, and smoking weed.”

According to an affidavit filed with the FBI, Parker said his intention was to fly to Sanibel, Florida, about 300 miles away, "to visit my sister."

Felony charges such as aircraft piracy applied

Parker was booked into the Volusia County Detention Center and faces multiple charges, including Attempted Aircraft Piracy, Burglary of a Conveyance, Felony Trespassing at the Airport, and two counts of Exposure of Genitals.
