Gauff Falls to Muchova in Three Sets

World number three Coco Gauff suffered an early exit from the Stuttgart Open on Friday, losing 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic. It marked an uncertain start to the American's clay season, with Gauff committing 13 unforced forehand errors throughout the match.

Despite Gauff's 6-0 record against Muchova on hard courts, clay proved to be a different story. Gauff bounced back to take the second set, but Muchova was clinical in the decider, saving five break points before clinching the only break of the set to take a 4-2 lead.

"It's always very tough against her. The third set was a real battle — very physical. I'm glad I managed to get the first break and keep it going," Muchova said. She will next face fourth seed Elina Svitolina, who beat Linda Noskova 7-6(2), 7-5.

Andreeva Beats Swiatek for Third Straight Time

In the day's other quarter-final, 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva defeated four-time Roland Garros champion Iga Swiatek 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. In their first clay-court meeting, Andreeva broke early in the opening set before Swiatek rallied to claim it. The Russian held her nerve in a tense second set to force a decider.

Andreeva trailed in the third before firing two consecutive breaks to clinch the match and extend her winning streak over Swiatek to three. "The baseline game showed progress, but overall it wasn't enough," Swiatek admitted. Andreeva will face top seed Elena Rybakina or Leylah Fernandez in the semis.

Clay Season Reshuffled Ahead of Roland Garros

With the French Open weeks away, the simultaneous exits of Gauff and Swiatek signal that this year's clay season may be more unpredictable than usual, opening the door for a new generation of players to challenge the established order.
