Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) has begun building a next-generation residential complex model that combines robotics technology with AI security. On the 18th, Hyundai E&C announced it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "Collaboration on Advancement of Service Robot-Based Residential Complexes" with Hyundai Motor and Kia Robotics Lab and Suprema, an AI integrated security solution company, at the World Security Expo (SECON) 2026 held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

The core of this agreement is to simultaneously enhance residents' living convenience and safety through the establishment of a robot ecosystem within complexes. Hyundai E&C plans to expand service applications through phased demonstrations centered on strategic business sites.

'Last-Mile' Delivery Service to Unit Doors

The core technology of this collaboration is the complete integration of complex infrastructure with robots. Hyundai Motor and Kia Robotics Lab's autonomous mobility platforms 'MobED' and 'DAL-e Delivery' operate in conjunction with key facilities such as main entrances, automatic doors, and elevators.

Residents can summon robots through dedicated applications 'My THE H' and 'My HILLS'. The robots provide 'last-mile service' by receiving items from complex shops or community facilities, passing through main entrances, autonomously calling elevators, and delivering to unit front doors. The app also allows real-time tracking of robot location and task status.

24-Hour AI Security and Care Services

Security features are also significantly enhanced. With Suprema's integrated security platform 'BioStar X' integrated with Robotics Lab's intelligent security solution, a system is established to monitor common areas and blind spots within complexes 24 hours a day. Suprema has been selected for the global 'Security 50' for 15 consecutive years and holds the number one market share in biometric access control in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

When abnormal situations occur, robots immediately send notifications to the control center and support rapid on-site response by security personnel. This system extends beyond simple security to 'safety care services'. Households with young children can check their children's safety status while moving within the complex and receive notifications to guardians, and can manage stranger access through visitor guidance and entry verification functions. When emergency situations such as falls occur for elderly residents, robots and control systems work together to enable rapid response.

Smart Complex Ecosystem Building Strategy

A Hyundai E&C official stated, "We will build a 'robot-based smart complex ecosystem' in stages where various robot services such as security patrol, luggage transport, and daily guidance operate organically," adding "We will lead the digital transformation of residential spaces and resident-centered lifestyle innovation."

This collaboration is evaluated as an attempt by a construction company to integrate an entire residential complex into a single digital platform by combining automaker robotics technology with security specialist AI solutions. The realization of a smart residential environment that simultaneously enhances resident convenience and complex operational efficiency is anticipated.
