Panama Baseball Returns After Two Years

The Panamanian Professional Baseball League (Probeis) announced on the 16th that the Federales de Chiriquí will represent Panama at the 2026 Caribbean Series. Panama did not participate in the 2025 tournament, making this a return after a two-year absence.

The tournament will be held in February in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Caribbean Series is a competition where professional baseball league champions from major Latin American countries compete, and is considered one of the most prestigious baseball tournaments in the region.

Participating in Two Tournaments Simultaneously

In addition to the Caribbean Series, Panama will also participate in the Serie de las Américas (Americas Series) held in Venezuela in February. The Águilas Metropolitanas will represent Panama in this tournament.

Having one country send different teams to two major international baseball tournaments in the same month demonstrates the improvement of Panama's baseball prowess.

Central Tournament of Latin American Baseball

The Caribbean Series is a winter league championship involving Caribbean coastal nations including the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Panama. This tournament also serves as a platform to assess the performance of Latin American players before the Major League Baseball season.

Panama has won the Caribbean Series multiple times in the past, and this return provides an opportunity to reaffirm its status as a regional baseball powerhouse.
