TikTok video posted ahead of comeback in April is controversial
A video posted by Tomorrow by Together (TXT) on their official TikTok account is gaining attention in unexpected places. The background music chosen by the group, which was communicating with fans ahead of its comeback in April, became the center of controversy.
On March 29, TXT posted a TikTok video that appears to have been taken on set. The video itself featured the members in a fashion check format, but the problem was the background music.
Select a song famous for its sexual lyrics
The song used in the video is 'Sloppy Joe' by American rapper cupcakKe. Cupcake is an artist known for his sexually explicit lyrics, and this song also contains content about anal lingus (anal fondling). The part that TXT used was a section that included lyrics instructing specific sexual acts for each day of the week.
Embarrassment also spread among fans. Since TXT has always communicated with bright and cheerful content, most people responded that this song selection was unexpected. Outside the fandom, people expressed doubt that a group under Big Hit Music used such a song on its official channel.
Wongokja cupcakes also reacted
This TikTok also caught the eye of the original singer, Cupcake himself. Cupcake left a comment on the TikTok and also reposted a related video on his X (formerly Twitter) account. It is said that Cupcake was also surprised and responded positively to the unexpected use of a K-pop group's song.
Recently, fan communication using social media such as TikTok has become essential among K-pop idols. Some idols actively participate in niche memes or challenges and show their ‘online flair’. This case of TXT appears to be an extension of that trend.
The group plans to continue active promotions ahead of their comeback in April.
