University Leadership Engaging Directly with Students

On September 19, President Dámaso Anaya Alvarado of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) visited the "Dr. Alberto Romo Caballero" Medical School in Tampico. This visit was part of the university's "A Day with Your President (Un Día con tu Rector)" program, designed to listen to voices from the educational field through direct communication with students and faculty.

President Anaya, welcomed by Dean Raúl de León Escobedo, toured the entire medical school and inspected educational and research facilities. He showed particular interest in the background of how this institution has established itself as a hub for training medical professionals.

Review of Advanced Medical Education Infrastructure

During the visit, the president inspected several innovative educational facilities and projects.

At the Centro de Medicina Inteligente (Intelligent Medicine Center), he examined AI-based diagnostic education systems and reviewed plans for a newly designated clinical simulation space. In the computer lab, the innovative platform "Koplik" was demonstrated, which supports medical student learning.

Additionally, in the advanced specialized clinic, he observed actual medical procedures using ultrasound equipment and received briefings on plans to establish a primary care clinic to strengthen students' practical capabilities.

Encouraging Research Capacity and Cultural Activities

President Anaya met with participants in the "Jóvenes en la Ciencia (Youth in Science)" program to encourage young researchers. He then held meetings with faculty members from the National System of Researchers (SNII) and the Teacher Development Program (PRODEP).

At the end of the visit, he attended a musical performance prepared by students and a traditional Mexican festival, experiencing the cultural aspects of university life firsthand. He reaffirmed his commitment to creating a "student-centered university" by listening to students' concerns and suggestions.

Institution Training 1,300 Medical Professionals

Tampico Medical School is a core college of UAT with over 1,300 students currently enrolled. Operating not only undergraduate programs but also graduate and specialist programs, it plays a pivotal role in training medical personnel in the Tamaulipas region.

Through this visit, UAT once again confirmed its identity as a university that simultaneously pursues educational innovation and student welfare.
