Italian Architectural Heritage Realized in LEGO Bricks

A special exhibition titled 'Monumentini' will be held at the Museo Vignoli in Seregno, Italy, from December 27 through January 25 next year. The exhibition features works by Luca Petraglia, a LEGO artist with 25 years of experience, who has recreated Italy's iconic architectural landmarks using LEGO bricks.

The exhibition showcases Rome's Trevi Fountain, Venice's Rialto Bridge, Florence's Giotto's Bell Tower, Milan Cathedral (Duomo), and Milan's La Scala Theatre in miniature form. Notably, the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome, unveiled for the first time at this exhibition, was constructed using over 200,000 LEGO bricks.

Where Art Meets Charity: Supporting the Monza Foundation

Petraglia has decided to support the Fondazione Morandi in Monza through this exhibition. The Morandi Foundation is working to establish Domus Morandi, a palliative care center for children suffering from rare and serious illnesses.

The center will be located in the former RAI broadcasting building within Monza Park (Parco di Monza). This building, designed by renowned Italian architect Gio Ponti in the 1950s, had been abandoned for years but is now gaining new life. Petraglia recreated this building using 30,000 LEGO bricks in 2023, and it will be unveiled for the first time at this exhibition.

The Stories of Architecture Told Through LEGO Bricks

Luca Petraglia is one of Italy's most renowned LEGO artists. Over 25 years of recreating architectural structures with LEGO bricks, he goes beyond simple replication to capture the essence and historical value of buildings within tiny blocks.

His works meticulously express not only the exterior of buildings but also their proportions, details, and material textures. The dynamic sculptures of the Trevi Fountain, the elegant arches of the Rialto Bridge, and the spires of the Duomo come vividly to life within small bricks.

This exhibition, sponsored by the City of Seregno, was organized by Brick Expo. The exhibition venue, Museo Vignoli, is located on via Santino de Nova in the center of Seregno.

A New Space for Pediatric Palliative Care

The Domus Morandi project promoted by the Morandi Foundation is a hospice for children with rare and serious illnesses. Conducted in collaboration with IRCCS San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, the goal extends beyond a simple medical facility to create a space where children and families can maintain peace and relationships.

The utilization of the former RAI building is a project that achieves both the preservation of historic architecture and the creation of social value. Petraglia's LEGO work artistically highlights the architectural value of this building while serving to promote the foundation's activities.
