From Mobile to Drones: A New Format for Tetris Competition

Red Bull is partnering with Tetris to host a uniquely formatted esports tournament. The 'Red Bull Tetris Phone-To-Drone Tournament' is the world's first Tetris competition that starts on mobile devices and progresses to controlling actual drones.

Qualifying rounds are currently underway through October 31st. Participants can access the mobile browser game by scanning QR codes at RedBullTetris.com or through limited edition Red Bull Tetris cans. This game is a special version created differently from traditional Tetris.

U.S. Finals and World Championship Schedule

Top-scoring players from the qualifiers will advance to the U.S. Finals on November 22nd in Hollywood, Florida. This finals event will feature representatives selected from over 55 countries worldwide, competing for tickets to the World Championship.

The ultimate winner will advance to the World Championship held from December 11-13 in Dubai. This final competition will be conducted inside the Dubai Frame using over 2,000 drones to play a real-scale Tetris game. This will be the first live, playable game in physical space in Tetris history.

How to Enter and Eligibility Requirements

The tournament is open to anyone 18 years or older, welcoming players of all skill levels. Participants play the game through their mobile devices and compete for rankings on the leaderboard.

Even players who don't advance to the finals can earn a chance to enter a drawing for on-site viewing in Dubai by clearing the in-game Golden Tetrimino.

A New Approach to Tetris Esports

This tournament represents a differentiated attempt from traditional esports competitions through its hybrid format combining mobile gaming with actual drone control. Particularly notable is the use of the iconic Dubai Frame landmark as the gaming stage and the integration of drone technology allowing spectators to watch the game unfold with the naked eye.

Red Bull has previously collaborated with Tetris on multiple occasions, and this tournament is a project conceived as an extension of that partnership.
