A Celebration of Sicily's Innovation Ecosystem
The 'Premio Innovazione Sicilia 2025' brought together startups and innovative companies in Sicily, Italy, with a successful event held at the Ecomuseo Urbano Mare Memoria Viva in Palermo.
Now in its third year, the event emphasized collaboration and solidarity within the regional innovation ecosystem under the theme 'Challenge S3: la sfida di fare sistema (The Challenge of Building a System)'. The gathering brought together diverse stakeholders including government agencies, corporations, startups, universities, research institutes, and financial institutions, showcasing Sicily's innovation capacity in one place.
Grand Prize Goes to Archimede.world
After competition among 185 candidates, Archimede.world won the top award. The company received high marks for its technological innovation and business model.
In the Early Stage category, three projects stood out:
- Longeviva (1st place) - Health longevity extension solutions
- HydroAiMesh (2nd place) - AI technology for water resource management
- Apeforest (3rd place) - Ecosystem preservation project
Innovation Through Collaboration
The event opened with a panel discussion titled "Voci che costruiscono (Voices that Build Together)". Participants included Professor Elita Scillaci from the University of Catania, Emanuele Stampinato from Harmonic Innovation Group, and Vincenzo Tanania from PwC Italia, who discussed key factors for innovation ecosystem growth.
Experts agreed that individual capabilities and knowledge alone are insufficient. They emphasized that true innovation stems from trust-based collaboration, the convergence of diverse expertise, and daily practice rather than abstract principles.

This event drew attention for its rapid pace and high engagement. Through brief panel discussions, focused presentations, and numerous spotlight sessions, it vividly conveyed Sicily's innovation landscape.
The figure of 185 applicant companies demonstrates the region's innovation potential. Sicily possesses both ideas and talent, and is now at the stage of building robust networks to transform this potential into concrete results.
Event organizers emphasized that companies, public institutions, universities, research institutes, financial institutions, and communities must work together to create new spaces for collaboration.
