Warzone Resurgence Series Opens Fire in February

Activision has announced the 'Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series (COD:WRS)', a new esports tournament for Call of Duty: Warzone. Starting February 9, the competition will progress from online qualifiers through two DreamHack LAN finals, culminating in the Esports World Cup Championship.

The total prize pool stands at $1.2 million, with the final championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia offering $1 million alone. The tournament features a three-person trio format, with teams competing from North America (NA), Europe (EU), Latin America (LATAM), Middle East & North Africa (MENA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions.

Tournament Structure and Schedule

The Warzone Resurgence Series consists of three main stages.

1. Online Qualifiers Up to 512 trios per region will compete for 32 Closed Qualifier spots. The top 5 teams from each region earn direct advancement to the LAN finals, while remaining teams can attempt to qualify through Open Qualifiers.

2. DreamHack LAN Finals

  • DreamHack Birmingham (UK): March 28-29, $100,000 prize pool
  • DreamHack Atlanta (USA): May 16-17, $100,000 prize pool

Top-performing teams at both LAN events will automatically secure spots in the Esports World Cup finals. Teams from regions outside North America and Europe cannot qualify for LAN events through online competition, but can participate by purchasing limited team passes.

3. Esports World Cup Championship In July, 32 trios will compete in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia over four days for the $1 million prize pool and the 2026 Warzone Resurgence Series title. Final teams will be determined through LAN final performances and separate online Championship Qualifiers.

Competition Format and Participation Requirements

The tournament follows traditional battle royale scoring systems. Points are awarded per kill, with placement multipliers applied each match. All participation information and registration details are available on the official tournament website.

Activision aims to strengthen the Warzone esports ecosystem through this series while providing global players with expanded competitive opportunities. With online qualifiers opening on February 9, aspiring trios should begin preparations immediately.
