Arrest Warrant Hearing for Revenge-for-Hire Mastermind
The alleged mastermind of an organized 'revenge-for-hire' ring accused of throwing excrement at victims' homes and spray-painting obscenities on walls for payment is undergoing a pre-arrest warrant hearing.
Seoul Metropolitan Police announced they have requested an arrest warrant for Mr. A, the suspected leader of the organization, on charges of orchestrating revenge-for-hire crimes across the country. A is accused of receiving payments from clients and directing subordinates to throw feces and other filth at victims' residences, and to spray-paint profane graffiti on front doors and walls.
Fake Employment to Obtain Personal Information
Police investigations revealed that A's gang went as far as obtaining fake employment to secure victims' personal information. They allegedly infiltrated companies where victims worked or related businesses to steal sensitive information such as home addresses, which they then used to carry out attacks.
Police requested the arrest warrant considering that A committed crimes organizationally with multiple accomplices, and that similar revenge-for-hire incidents occurred in various regions nationwide. The court will decide whether to issue the arrest warrant after the substantive review hearing.
