The Whole League Wears One Number

Every April 15, Major League Baseball honors Jackie Robinson Day. This year, all on-field personnel across every club — regardless of team colors — will wear Dodger Blue No. 42, paired with royal blue '42' socks from Stance and a '42' side patch on their caps.

'We Are Jackie' Campaign Launch

MLB is debuting a new campaign called 'We Are Jackie,' featuring a dedicated spot narrated by Hall of Famer CC Sabathia. A social media interview series includes Sabathia, 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Andruw Jones, 2022 NL Rookie of the Year Michael Harris II, Victor Scott II, Lawrence Butler, Denzel Clarke, and AUSL players Maya Brady and Jayda Coleman — all sharing how Robinson's legacy shaped their careers.

Club-by-Club Tributes

The Arizona Diamondbacks will donate $4,200 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley and welcome community leader Virgil 'Jackie' Berry as ceremonial first pitch thrower.

The Athletics will hold a special No. 42 hat giveaway, with Jackie Robinson Foundation alumnus Ronnie Belton III throwing out the first pitch.

The Atlanta Braves will host children from the Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club of Cairo-Grady County at Truist Park, with Youth of the Year honoree Dymond Barron throwing the first pitch.

The Baltimore Orioles will present a $10,000 donation to the Jackie Robinson Foundation and host scholars in the ownership suite.

The Chicago White Sox will have ACE program student-athletes join the starting lineup on the field and announce 'Play Ball' to open the game.

Why No. 42 Matters

Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball's color barrier on April 15, 1947, debuting with the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1997, MLB retired his No. 42 across all teams — an unprecedented league-wide honor. The annual tradition of allowing all players to wear 42 on this date is a declaration that his legacy belongs to the entire sport, not just one team or era.
