Detective and prosecutor, uncomfortable reunion after 30 years

ENA's new drama 'Scarecrow' has begun full-fledged promotion by releasing its second teaser. This work, starring Park Hae-soo and Lee Hee-jun, tells the story of two men pursuing the truth of a serial murder case spanning 30 years between 1988 and 2019.

Park Hae-soo plays the role of Kang Tae-joo, an ace detective who takes on a serial murder case that occurred in Gangseong. Lee Hee-jun appears as Cha Si-young, an elite prosecutor in charge of the same case, and he is the perpetrator who bullied Kang Tae-joo in the past during his school days.

Those who pursue and those who are pursued

The released teaser begins with Kang Tae-joo's calm but firm voice saying, "I will definitely catch you." As suspicions about Kang Seong's serial killer increase, the appearance of old classmate Cha Si-young causes unexpected ramifications in the investigation.

The two reunited after 30 years. Cha Si-young hugs Kang Tae-joo and says, "I missed you," but his smile only reminds Kang Tae-joo of his nightmarish past. The cooperative relationship between two people assigned to the same case as a detective and a prosecutor creates a tense tension.

The production team hinted at complex power relationships by setting Kang Tae-joo as a ‘detective chasing a murderer’ and Cha Si-young as a ‘prosecutor chasing a detective’. At the end of the teaser, Kang Tae-joo warns, "I am not the Kang Tae-joo of the past. Don't touch me," and Cha Si-young declares, "I will keep you by my side," signaling the beginning of a precarious alliance.

School violence and power, intersection of past and present

'Scarecrow' is expected to go beyond a simple crime thriller and shed light on how the trauma of school violence leads to power relations even after becoming an adult. The uneasy alliance between the detective who was the victim and the prosecutor who was the perpetrator during the investigation is expected to evoke multi-layered emotions from viewers.

Park Hae-soo is an actor who has gained global recognition through Netflix's 'Squid Game' and 'Paper House: Joint Economic Zone'. Lee Hee-jun is also a talented actor who left a strong impression in 'Chimera' and 'Fly, Gaecheon-yong', and the nervous battle between the two is expected to be a key point to watch in the drama.
