Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 developer, controversy over replacement with AI after firing translator
Former Warhorse Studio employee complains of ‘feeling betrayed by company management’

- •Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Developer Claims Translator Was Fired Over AI

- •There are growing concerns about job instability due to the introduction of AI in the gaming industry.
AI takes the place of translators
An employee who worked as a translator at Warhorse Studios, the developer of the popular medieval RPG 'Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2', is embroiled in controversy after claiming that his work was replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) after being fired.
The claim became known through a post on a game-related online community. The author of the post is Max Hejtmanek, and his identity as a Czech-English translator was reportedly confirmed by community management through his LinkedIn profile.
Received notice that ‘role is unnecessary due to introduction of AI’
According to reports, Heitmanek was summoned to a meeting on March 27, 2026, where he was informed that his role had "become 'redundant' due to the shift to translation using AI." The company reportedly explained this as a measure to “improve the company’s efficiency.”
“There have been frequent discussions in the past about using AI for translation, and I have always expressed strong opposition,” Heitmanek said. “But I had no idea that it would actually cost me my job.” He said that he has worked at Warhorse Studio for several years and has participated in translating the main game, DLC, and marketing materials for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Concerns about jobs spread amid accelerating adoption of AI in the gaming industry
This case clearly demonstrates the problem of employment instability that arises as the introduction of AI technology accelerates in the gaming industry. In particular, discussions on AI replacement are becoming more active in repetitive or patternable work areas such as translation, localization, and quality control (QA).
Heitmanek edited the post and said, "Please do not harass Warhorse Studio officials or leave negative reviews of the game on Steam," and added, "My intention is for people to know more about what happens behind closed doors in the gaming industry."
The media reported that they had requested a statement from Warhorse Studio.
