Summary
  • The 110㎡ summer villa ‘La Florida II House’ was completed in Trapiche, Argentina.
  • It was designed by Rezaeta Labanci Architecture, and harmony with the nearby pine forest was a key design element.
  • It is attracting attention as a new example of nature-friendly small residential architecture.

A small sanctuary located where a pine forest and a reservoir meet

A new summer home has been completed near La Florida Reservoir in the Trapiche region of Argentina. 'La Florida II House', designed by Chile-based architecture office Lezaeta Lavanchy, is a 110㎡ small residential space, completed in 2023 and recently unveiled through architecture media.

According to the architects, the most decisive factor in site selection for this project was proximity to a nearby pine forest. Among several candidate sites, the current location was selected with harmony with the natural environment as the top priority.

Architectural vision completed through collaboration

This project was led by Maria Emilia Lavanchy and Benjamin Lezaeta, and Juan Ramón Samaniego was in charge of the design. Technical design was led by Daniela Lusich Marinoni.

In particular, Catalina Moreno participated in the landscape design to promote an organic connection with the surrounding natural environment, and Tomás Boulocq took charge of the structural analysis to complete a stable architectural structure. The window system used was a product from El Irani Ventanas.

New possibilities in compact residential architecture

La Florida II House is a project that pursues coexistence with nature within a limited space instead of building a huge building on a large land. Despite its compact size of 110㎡, it provides residents with a sense of expanded space by actively utilizing the natural elements of the pine forest.

This approach is in line with the ‘small but meaningful architecture’ trend that has recently attracted attention around the world. Creating a comfortable recreational space while respecting the existing environment rather than excessive development is emerging as an important task in modern architecture.

Architectural photos were taken by Federico Cairoli, capturing the harmonious appearance of the building located between a reservoir and a forest.
