Summary
  • Japanese label manufacturer Towamark has developed a 3D bouquet letter set using industrial embossing technology
  • It is a participatory stationery where users complete letters by layering flower and leaf stickers
  • It uses Japanese washi as the basic material and is scheduled to be released through crowdfunding in February 2026.

Industrial technology transforms into stationery

Towa Mark, a label manufacturer in Tokyo, Japan, founded in 1969, introduced 'Letter Bouquet', a new stationery product using industrial embossing technology. This product, created in collaboration with OKUNOTE Tokyo Studio, reinterprets stickers, which were just flat decorative elements, into three-dimensional formative elements.

'Halu Maison Letter Bouquet' is a modular letter set in which users place thick embossed stickers directly on paper and stack them layer by layer to complete a bouquet. Stickers in the shape of flowers and leaves are produced using a proprietary multi-layer structure method developed by Towamark to produce highly durable industrial labels.

Designing a tactile experience

During the production process, paper and film layers are combined to create thickness, and then pressed using a custom-made mold to create a sculptural relief effect. This embossing process creates a tactile surface that shows various expressions depending on the light.

Instead of realistic plant reproduction, the flower motif was designed in a simplified graphic form inspired by Nordic textile abstraction. Because the adhesive surface is only partially applied, elements can be freely rearranged and layered to control depth and spatial composition.

The basic material used was traditional Japanese paper. The unique texture of washi goes well with additional customizations such as watercolor painting or scent addition.

Turn letter writing into a ‘participatory experience’

Letter Bouquet operates as an assembly-based system, breaking away from the traditional method of delivering completed cards. As the act of arranging and layering embossed elements itself becomes part of the communication process, the role of stationery expands into a tactile and participatory format.

This product is scheduled to be released on Japan's leading crowdfunding platform on February 27, 2026.
