171 billion won withdrawn from Bitcoin ETF in one day... Biggest leak in 3 weeks
Funds are withdrawn from major funds such as Blackrock IBIT, signaling a shift to a wait-and-see approach for institutional investors.

- •US Bitcoin ETF sees $171 million outflow in one day, largest amount in three weeks
- •Simultaneous outflow of funds across major funds, including Blackrock IBIT
- •After the inflow of $2 billion at the end of February, institutional investors rapidly shifted to a wait-and-see attitude.
US Bitcoin ETF, net outflow of $171 million per day
$171.12 million (approximately KRW 171 billion) was withdrawn from 11 spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) listed in the United States in one day. This is the largest single-day outflow in the past three weeks, suggesting that demand for Bitcoin from institutional investors is cooling.
According to related data, $41.92 million was outflowed from IBIT of Blackrock, the world's largest asset management company, and major funds such as FBTC, GBTC, BITB, and ARKB also experienced fund outflows of $20 to $30 million each.
Inflow has slowed sharply since the end of February
This large-scale outflow is especially noteworthy because it occurred after a period of strong capital inflow. From late February to mid-March, more than $2 billion (approximately 2.6 trillion won) flowed into U.S. Bitcoin ETFs. However, the momentum weakened sharply after that.
Last week's net inflow was only $95.8 million, and this week's net outflow so far is $70.71 million. Compared to the strong performance at the beginning of the month, we can see that the attitude of institutional investors has clearly changed.
Institutional investors switch to cautious mode
The slowdown in fund flows shows that institutional investors are taking a more cautious approach to Bitcoin ETFs. The Spot Bitcoin ETF, launched in January 2024, gained great popularity as a means for investors to be exposed to price fluctuations without directly holding Bitcoin.
However, as the price of Bitcoin continues to fluctuate around $70,000, it is analyzed that the active buying trend of institutions has slowed due to increasing macroeconomic uncertainty. This is raising questions about whether this is a short-term adjustment or the beginning of a long-term decline in demand.
