The pinnacle of alternative history SF, returns with Season 5

Season 5 of Apple TV's flagship science fiction drama 'For All Mankind' has been confirmed to premiere on March 27. This season, which consists of a total of 10 episodes, will be released one episode every Friday, and the season finale will be aired on May 29.

'For All Mankind' is an alternative history that began with the launch of Apple TV+ in 2019, and is set in a world where the Soviet Union landed on the moon before the United States. In this setting, NASA's Apollo program continues rather than ending in 1972, and humanity's space development takes a completely different trajectory from reality.

Mars colony vs. Earth, full-scale conflict structure

Season 5 is set in the 2010s. Set nine years after the events surrounding the iridium-rich asteroid in Season 4, the Happy Valley colony on Mars has grown into a thriving community of thousands of residents.

The central conflict of the play is the growing tension between Earth and Mars. The inhabitants of Mars seek to establish their own cultural identity without Earth's interference, while the nations of Earth attempt to impose law and order on their rebellious neighboring planet. In the released trailer, President Jim Bragg makes a strong statement: "Let's see how long we can endure without allies, without support, and without a home planet."

Timeliness in conjunction with NASA’s Artemis project

The reason why this series has continued to attract viewers is the real-world enthusiasm for space development. As NASA's Artemis 2 manned lunar exploration mission came into view, public interest in the space industry increased. The drama sheds light on the current space development race from a different angle by asking the question, 'If I had made a different choice back then.'

The series is planned and executive produced by Matt Wolpert, Ben Nadivi, and Ronald D. Moore. In particular, Ronald D. Moore is a person who opened a new horizon for the science fiction genre with the reboot of 'Battlestar Galactica', and has shown outstanding ability in tense drama and detailed world building.
