- •Fans are grateful for her honesty and are responding with empathy.
Complaints about ‘serious problems’ at the fan meeting site
Former SKE48 member Kaori Matsumura is becoming a hot topic by politely asking fan meeting attendees to use deodorant. This was an honest mention of the hygiene issues that arose during the 'handshake event' type fan meeting, which is unique to the Japanese idol industry.
Matsumura expressed his gratitude through his SNS, saying, "Thank you for coming to the handshake event. We have received a complaint regarding a serious problem." A female fan requested action, saying it was difficult to tolerate the body odor of other attendees in the waiting line.
Presenting honest and considerate solutions
Instead of criticizing fans who have body odor problems, Matsumura showed empathy. “It is difficult to recognize one’s own body odor. As SKE48 members, it is something we must always be careful about,” he said.
As a specific solution, she directly introduced deodorant products that are easily available on the market, such as BIC's 'Deonature' and Shiseido's 'Ag+'. Afterwards, roll-on type products that can be used instead of spray types in closed event venues were additionally introduced.
Spread empathy among fans
Netizens sent their thanks to Matsumura's honest post. Responses such as “Honestly, the smell of the handshake event was so strong that I wanted to give up the line and leave”, “Summer events are especially serious”, and “People who run to be on time need to be especially careful” continued.
Meanwhile, Kaori Matsumura is currently living as a mother of two children after her activities with SKE48. This statement is being accepted as the purpose of ensuring that both fans and artists can enjoy precious encounters in a comfortable environment.
