‘Cabbage Life’ starring Park Sung-woong, gets off to a stable start
KBS 2TV's new Thursday drama 'Cabbage Life' got off to a good start by recording an average nationwide viewer rating of 2.7% in its first broadcast on March 26. According to Nielsen Korea, this drama ranked second among terrestrial broadcasts in the same time slot.
'Cabbage Life' tells the story of Seong Tae-hoon's family, played by Park Seong-woong, who suddenly ends up living in Yeonri Village and struggles to return to Seoul, where they originally lived. It was planned as a comic drama that reexamines the meaning of family and the value of life through a city person's adaptation to the countryside.
Fiercely competitive Thursday drama market
Currently, the Thursday night drama market is fiercely competing for viewership ratings as popular dramas such as 'Siren's Kiss' and 'Climax' are competing. According to related industry reports, various dramas are trying to secure viewers, such as 'Phantom Lawyer' breaking its highest viewership rating and showing an upward trend, and 'Doctor God' also breaking its own record.
Meanwhile, the fact that 'Cabbage Life' ranked second on terrestrial channels from its first broadcast is considered a meaningful achievement. It is analyzed that Park Sung-woong's comical acting and fresh material set in a rural village caught the attention of viewers.
Points to watch in the future
The drama will revolve around the various episodes and interpersonal relationships that Seong Tae-hoon's family experiences in Yeonri Village. Cultural differences between the city and the countryside, conflict and reconciliation between families, etc. are expected to be key points to watch. ‘Cabbage Life’ airs every Thursday on KBS 2TV.
