To commemorate the 60th anniversary of immigration to Paraguay and the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Paraguay Korean School, the Korean ‘Youth Dream Presentation Festival’ was held successfully. This event, held at the Paraguay Korean School on the 28th (local time), was hosted by the My Dream International Foundation and organized by the Paraguay branch.
Eleven students ranging from 6th grade in elementary school to 3rd grade in high school took the final stage and presented their dreams and visions in Korean. Starting with a welcoming speech by Branch Manager Kwon Jeong-soon, it was followed by a congratulatory speech by Secretary Yoo Woo-jeong of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Paraguay and a video congratulatory speech by Chairman Son Chang-hyeon.
Conscience and honesty, talking about the path in the AI era
The students who presented presented a variety of topics based on their personal experiences. Announcements included finding a creative career path suited to the era of artificial intelligence (AI), reflecting on a life of conscience and honesty, and aspirations for serving as a bridge between Korea and Paraguay in a multicultural environment.
1st place went to Hadaniel, a third-year high school student, who presented on the topic ‘Choice of righteousness for the right success.’ He received favorable reviews from the judges for conveying the message that choosing to keep one's conscience even in difficult situations leads to true success.
2nd place went to 7th grade Haneul, who presented 'A person who follows conscience', and 3rd place went to 2nd year high school student Kwon Chan-chan, who proposed the goal of becoming a 'system architect' using AI.
The meaning of nurturing the next generation of overseas Koreans
Chairman Son Chang-hyun emphasized the importance of desire, confidence, and persistence to the participating students through a video message and encouraged them, “I hope you will not give up on your dreams for the future and will continue to challenge yourself until the end.”
Paraguay branch manager Kwon Jeong-soon said, “We plan to continue to operate various programs to help young people discover their potential and grow into global talents.”
Paraguay's Korean community has been taking root for 60 years since the first immigrant group arrived in 1965. Founded in 1975, Paraguay Korean School has played a central role in identity education by transmitting Korean language and culture to the next generation of Koreans for half a century.
