The suspense thriller spans three decades—from 1988 to 2019—following a fateful and hostile alliance between two men bound together by misfortune as they chase the truth behind a series of murders.

The newly released main trailer opens with a powerful scene: detective Kang Tae Joo (Park Hae Soo) confronts a man in prison, declaring, "I finally found you—the murderer I've been searching for." The story then flashes back from 2019 to 1988, when a string of murders shakes Tae Joo's hometown of Gangseong.

The investigation throws Tae Joo into further turmoil when Cha Si Young (Lee Hee Joon)—his former school rival and now the presiding prosecutor—arrives on the scene. Tae Joo draws a sharp line: "You do your job, and I'll do mine," while Si Young coldly fires back, "Detective Kang, don't forget—I'm a prosecutor before I'm your friend." The tension peaks when Tae Joo grabs Si Young by the collar and snaps, "If you call me your friend one more time, I'll kill you."

Yet as the investigation drags on, Tae Joo is the first to extend an olive branch: "Let's catch him together." Meanwhile, reporter Seo Ji Won (Kwak Sun Young)—Tae Joo's close friend who is also chasing the same truth—joins the effort in her own way, vowing, "I'll help you catch the culprit, so just wait." The trailer closes with the unsettling silhouette of the 'Scarecrow' flashing a faint smile, hinting that the mystery runs far deeper than anyone suspects.
