The absurd situation that occurred in the video court
A woman in Michigan, USA, was caught driving while attending an online court hearing via Zoom, making headlines. Kimberly Carroll logged in late to the hearing and was asked to turn on her camera, which showed the inside of a moving vehicle.
Judge Michael McNally immediately asked: "You can't be driving. What are you doing?" Although Carroll claimed he was "sitting in the passenger seat, not driving," the footage clearly showed him sitting in the driver's seat and his seatbelt in place.
I was exposed to lies, even the last resort failed.
When the judge asked to see the driver, Carroll got out of the car instead of showing the driver. In response, the judge said, "Do I look like such a fool? You lied to me." The court eventually entered a default judgment, stating that Carroll was present while driving and denied it.
A belated apology, but also an appeal for damage from the virus
After the video went viral online, Carroll admitted responsibility for his actions in an interview with local media. He explained, “It was a bad decision to attend the Zoom court hearing while driving, and I regret that decision. I was momentarily embarrassed and did not stop the car or change my schedule.”
However, Carroll expressed concern that the video became a hot topic on the Internet. “This incident has become a viral spectacle and has affected my reputation, my family and my ability to move forward,” he said.
