Map rotation realized after years of requests

In Call of Duty's Warzone Season 3 update, a map rotation feature is introduced for the first time in the main battle royale mode. This is a feature that players have been requesting for a long time, and is expected to bring major changes to the gaming experience.

Until now, in Warzone, only one large map could be played at a time. The map was replaced from Verdansk to Caldera and Urzikstan, and the original map was returned, but more than one map was never active at the same time.

Because of this, many fans have requested that map rotation be introduced like Apex Legends to keep the game fresh.

Verdansk and Avalon, regular replacement begins

Raven Software announced on its official blog that map rotation will be added during Season 3. At the start of the season, it will be operated as Verdansk, and then the new Avalon map will join the rotation.

The two maps are replaced at regular intervals, with Verdansk operating as the main battle royale map for a certain period of time and then switching to Avalon. The exact date has not been revealed, but as it is mentioned that it will be introduced 'in-season', it is expected to be applied before the Reloaded update scheduled for around April 30th.

Battle Royale debut of Avalon map

Avalon has been rumored to be a battle royale map since it was first leaked during Black Ops 6. At the time, many fans expected Avalon to replace Urzikstan, but Verdansk returned instead. Afterwards, Avalon was used as the background for Black Ops 7's Endgame mode and Black Ops Royale.

When it is officially introduced as a battle royale map, some changes will be made to suit the mode. The biggest change is the addition of the Gulag system. The Gulag, a core element of traditional Warzone that is not present in Endgame or Black Ops Royale, also applies to Avalon.
