Valve applies new TF2 update

Valve has released a new update for its long-running multiplayer shooter ‘Team Fortress 2’. This patch is automatically applied when the game restarts, and includes various bug fixes and stability improvements.

Major modifications

The core of this update is bug fixes made through GitHub contributions from community developers. Two memory leak issues were resolved, and problems that occurred during the sprite model and server browser blacklist check process were improved through modifications to CosminPerRam.

A bug related to CEntityBird::SpawnRandomBirds that caused the game to crash was also fixed thanks to Bitl's contribution. Additionally, a visual issue where the pilot light for some Botkiller flamethrower weapons was not displayed was resolved.

Gameplay-related fixes

A number of fixes that affect balance and gameplay are also included. An issue where Vaccinator's resistance icon remained after changing player teams has been resolved with Bakugo's fix. A bug where the passive effect of Thermal Thruster was not removed when the equipment was unequipped while in use was also fixed by the same contributor.

The issue of the teleporter-related property mult_teleporter_recharge_rate not being applied to the exit teleporter was contributed by The Fatcat, and the update that allowed CTFBot to use Wrap Assassin's secondary attack was contributed by Bitl. The fix related to the Gas Passer respawn room has been reverted in this patch.

Other fixes and additions

An issue where some items were incorrectly displayed as 'held' in the collection checklist has been fixed thanks to rabscootle's contribution. A regression bug in itemtest has also been resolved, and some tournament medals have been updated and added.

Meaning of community contribution

What is noteworthy about this patch is that most of the modifications were made through contributions from community developers through GitHub. Team Fortress 2, which has been in service for 18 years since its launch in 2007, shows that continuous maintenance is being carried out through collaboration with the community.
