'Bloodhounds 2' Drops on Netflix on April 3
Netflix original series 'Bloodhounds 2' officially premiered at 5 p.m. KST on April 3. The action noir, which made a strong impression with its first season in 2023, returns after three years.
Having taken down a loan shark ring in Season 1, Gun Woo (Woo Do Hwan) and Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yi) now face a global underground boxing league led by Baek Jeong (Rain). Beyond pure action, the season puts front and center the clash between humanity and money.
A Stronger Villain, a Deeper Bond
Director Kim Joo Hwan summed up Season 2 in three points: "The friendship is deeper and more intense, the action is faster and more powerful, and the villain is stronger and more brutal." He also noted that as the line between growth and regression collapses, characters must accept their own darker side to fight evil.
Woo Do Hwan said he wanted to show Gun Woo's growth both physically and mentally. Lee Sang Yi portrayed a more mature and dependable Woo Jin, teasing fans with the duo's bromance and desperate fight to protect their family.
Rain Transforms into a 'Human Weapon'
Rain's villain turn is a major highlight. His character Baek Jeong is described as a human weapon capable of taking down world champions. Rain said he focused on portraying Baek Jeong's instinctive nature and the pleasure he feels from others' pain. To develop a unique fighting style with both orthodox and southpaw stances, Rain trained extensively with action director Jung Sung Ho.
'Crazy-Impact Action'
Action director Jung Sung Ho described Season 2's concept as 'crazy-impact action,' incorporating a wider range of boxing techniques and focusing on strong, immediate impact. Both Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi, already known for their dedication to training, pushed their skills even further for this season.
