Mark to Leave SM Entertainment After a Decade
Mark, a core member of NCT, is parting ways with SM Entertainment. On April 3, the agency announced that following extensive discussions, both parties have mutually agreed to conclude Mark's exclusive contract as of April 8. Mark will cease all activities with NCT, including NCT 127 and NCT DREAM.
A Decade of Memories, A Handwritten Farewell
Mark debuted with NCT U on April 9, 2016, and has spent approximately 10 years under SM Entertainment, earning global recognition both as a group member and a solo artist. He took to his personal Instagram to share a handwritten letter with fans, known as Czennies.
In the letter, Mark reflected on a dream he has carried since his trainee days — busking with an acoustic guitar and writing — and expressed his desire to fully explore that vision. "I truly want to find, clearly and for real, what my music — my 'fruit' — will be," he wrote, while expressing deep gratitude toward NCT and SM for shaping who he is today.
What's Next for NCT?
SM Entertainment confirmed that NCT 127 will continue with seven members — Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, and Haechan — while NCT DREAM will carry on with six: Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung. The agency pledged continued support for all remaining members.
